DMV why do you hate me?

Any day you have to go to the DMV it's inevitable that something frustrating will happen. I had a good feeling today was going to be my day that would change that stereotype, but no.

My trip there was pleasant. I had all the necessary documents including passport, MN licenses and a mailed document showing my new address. I even studied for the knowledge test by using the OR Driver app which was fabulous.

The trip began with a 15 minute bus ride and .6 mile walk to the DMV. I filled out my paperwork, paid $5 for the knowledge test, passed my eye chart test and moved on to take the knowledge test. My studying paid off because I passed! I paid $60 for my Oregon driver’s licenses and waited for my photo.

The DMV now requires no glasses can be wore for the photo. I was told it’s suppose to help with facial recognition having nothing obstructing the facial features. Anyways, the lady was great and even let me have a redo on my photo since I looked horrible with no smile. I am feeling proud to have acquired my interim licenses and only have to wait 10 days for the real plastic to arrive. I booked it to the bus stop and was able to use the time remaining on my ticket to get home. I killed it!

When I got home I looked again at my beautiful paper interim licenses and noticed immediately my address is INCORRECT! How can this happen. The address is 3323 when it actuality should be 3233. All I can say is ‘are you f’ing kicking me’?!

I call the DMV immediately and am told I need to come back to the DMV today to get it fixed. If I waited it will be a lot harder to correct the error. After another bus ride and cold walk I am standing at the desk again politely asking what how can we fix this error.

Of course the information desk had never seen this error before. I was sent to the office manager who was also surprised by the error. My hand written file was pulled to confirm if I made the error. Happy dance, I had the address correct! Fat fingers typed it incorrectly into the system. All my info had to be redone and a lovely new mugshot was taken.

Thank god I didn’t work today and could dedicate 4 hours to the DMV. Someday I'll get my perfect trip.
